Pay Grade: AU04 (248 Days)
Primary Purpose:
Fuel buses, vans, maintenance support vehicles; check fluid levels; inspect for needed maintenance. Perform other duties assigned by Fleet Manager.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Texas CDL License with Passenger and School Bus endorsements
Valid Texas School Bus Driver Certification
Must pass school bus driver physical examination for physical and emotional stability
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must be able to use Petrovend AFC Fuel System
Must have a mechanical understanding of auto, bus and truck engines and functions
Must know what types of oil, fuels and antifreeze are used by each vehicle
Must know how to prevent or contain fuel and oil spills
Must have some knowledge of tire conditions
Must be able to do minor maintenance on school buses
Must have some knowledge of tire repair procedures

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Fuel buses, vans and maintenance support vehicles on a.m. and p.m. shifts.
2. Check engine oil, transmission oil, antifreeze and washer fluid on all vehicles.
3. Check for frayed belts, worn hoses, hanging wires, loose metal, missing bolts and screws, and broken or cracked lenses and glass.
4. Check for fluid leaks.
5. Check for low tires.
6. Drive vehicles to dealers, retrieve or deliver parts and other errands.
7. Assist in washing vehicles as needed.
8. Assist in inspecting and make ready buses and vans before trips.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:
School bus and all related equipment. Hand and power tools, high pressure grease guns, air jacks, air tools and golf cart

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Work is performed in a vehicle maintenance shop with considerable interfering noise levels. On call twenty-four hours a day. Conditions include temperature changes in weather, dirt dust, oil, wetness, glare, draft and mud. Hazards may include burns, shock, cuts, crushed fingers, and back injuries from lifting weight in excess of seventy-five pounds.
