This position is for the 2022-2023 school year only.

 

Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt

Pay Grade: Non-standard Hourly

 

Non-Degreed: $15.00/hour

Degreed/Non-Certified: $17.50/hour

Certified: $20.00/hour

 

Primary Purpose:

Provides supplemental instructional support to students not meeting academic expectations in Reading, Math, Science, and/or Writing with inclusive support to the general education teacher and/or small group instruction. This position is designed to provide supplemental, instructional support to students on a school wide, TI campus, who experience difficulties mastering the state academic achievement standards. This position may be used to improve student performance and upgrade the entire educational program as identified in the campus improvement plan and campus comprehensive needs assessment.

 

Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High School diploma
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate, preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of best instructional practices and strategies
Knowledge of TEKS and student expectations
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Effective decision-making skills
Instructional Strategist
Knowledge of RTI process

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies

  1. Assist support teachers in the delivery of a strongly aligned district curriculum.
  2. Analyze student achievement data and use results for instructional interventions.
  3. Determine and instructional intervention strategies that reflect understanding of the diverse needs of students.
  4. Provide tutoring to students in individual and/or small group settings situations through acceleration and remediation.

 

Student Growth and Development

  1. Establish and maintain open communication.
  2. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  3. Establish and maintain strong relationships with students.


School Morale

  1. Support collegiality and team building among staff members.
  2. Maintain a professional relationship with students, colleagues, parents, interns, administrators and community members.
  3. Assist in creating a positive school climate.
  4. Communicate learning objectives mastered by student with core teacher

 

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Participate in Professional development activities to improve job-related skills.
  2. Assist in supporting Special’s teachers on a limited basis.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work irregular hours
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
