HEALTH SCREENER: $115 per day

Primary Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Health Services and lead health screening specialist, act as a substitute screener for all schools.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct hearing and vision screenings
(must obtain within 30 days of hire date)
High School Graduate
Preferred - American Heart Association CPR and First Aid certification
Special knowledge/Skills
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written); interpret policies & procedures; maintain emotional control under stress
Ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and communicate
Basic computer skills
Bilingual communication skills preferred
Experience:
Preferred - experience screening in hearing and vision.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Under the direction of the Director of Student Health or campus Registered Nurse (RN) or Lead Health Screening Specialist:
- Organize, provide, and document required screening of students across the district.
- Serve as health advocate for students.
- Communicate regularly with campus RN, Lead Health Screening Specialist, and Student Health Services Director regarding issues when conducting screenings on campus.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, TX DSHS, State Board of Education, and Hays CISD board, in the area of health services.
Professional:
- Demonstrate behavior that is proficient, ethical, and responsible.
- Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
- Maintain certification in CPR, vision, and hearing applicable to campus grade level. Provide copies of all certifications to Student Health Services.
- Attend continuing education training as indicated by any updates to health screening protocols in schools.
- Participate in at least 75% of meetings.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
