Pay Grade: P4 (187 Days; 8 hrs)
Primary Purpose:
Perform organization skills and classroom management. Implement discipline procedures and policies.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate (or obtain if recommended for a position) or valid Texas teacher certificate
Meet Highly Qualified requirements (have a minimum of 48 college hours or have successfully completed a TEA approved
paraprofessional training)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to keep accurate written and/or computer records
Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions in emergency situations
Ability to present one’s self in a professional yet disciplinarian manner
Ability to maintain classroom management, order, and implement individual discipline plans and actions given by higher authority

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide supervision for students who are assigned to the In-School Suspension classroom.
2. Take daily attendance.
3. Review in-school suspension policies, procedures and student expectations with students daily.
4. Work with students and or other staff members during student reflection period on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in student being assigned to ISS.
5. Monitor all PBIS assignments; provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, computer work and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
6. Ensure students have security escorts to lavatory facilities.
7. Email teachers 24 hours in advance for work requests and complete student Work Completion Logs for all students assigned to the room.
8. Facilitate and arrange delivery of student lunches when necessary.
9. Refer behavior problems to Assistant Principals.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Working in coordinance with assistant principals and their disciplinary plans and decisions

Copier, personal computer, telephone, and fax machine.

Work is performed in a classroom atmosphere and setting. Attendance needs to be a priority as much as possible. Consistency in discipline policies and procedures is a must.
