Pay Grade: AU09; 248 Days; 8 Hours

 

Primary Purpose:

Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems and fixtures in district facilities.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) minimum maintenance electrician license, or greater

Clear and valid Texas driver’s license

Annual continued education refresher course in electrical

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring and operating principles of motors

Knowledge of current electrical codes and ordinances

Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm systems (preferred)

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Ability to perform mathematical calculations

Ability to diagnose and resolve problems

Ability to use hand and power tools

 

Experience:

Four years’ experience in electrical field

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment apparatuses using hand and power
  2. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatuses, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate cause of breakdown and correct
  3. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, and other
  4. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repairs, and to ensure compliance with code.
  5. Advise management whether continued operation of equipment could be
  6. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, and equipment using test devises such as ohm meters, volt meters, and megger to ensure compatibility and safety of
  7. Responsible for keeping truck stocked to make timely repairs on district electrical
  8. Respond to emergencies as
  9. Report unsafe conditions to supervisor
  10. Update work orders daily through CMMS, and close upon work c
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety

  1. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and shop equipment and ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  2. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  3. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  4. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
  5. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
