HEALTH SCREENER: $115 per day

Primary Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Health Services and lead health screening specialist, act as a substitute screener for all schools.

 

Qualifications:

      Minimum Education/Certification:

      Certified by Texas Department of Health to conduct hearing and vision screenings

      (must obtain within 30 days of hire date)

      High School Graduate

      Preferred - American Heart Association CPR and First Aid certification

 

      Special knowledge/Skills

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written); interpret policies & procedures; maintain emotional control under stress

Ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and communicate

Basic computer skills

Bilingual communication skills preferred

 

      Experience:

      Preferred - experience screening in hearing and vision.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Student Health or campus Registered Nurse (RN) or Lead Health Screening Specialist:

  1. Organize, provide, and document required screening of students across the district.
  2. Serve as health advocate for students.
  3. Communicate regularly with campus RN, Lead Health Screening Specialist, and Student Health Services Director regarding issues when conducting screenings on campus.
  4. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, TX DSHS, State Board of Education, and Hays CISD board, in the area of health services. 

Professional:

  1. Demonstrate behavior that is proficient, ethical, and responsible.
  2. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
  3. Maintain certification in CPR, vision, and hearing applicable to campus grade level. Provide copies of all certifications to Student Health Services.
  4. Attend continuing education training as indicated by any updates to health screening protocols in schools.
  5. Participate in at least 75% of meetings.
