Non-Degreed: $16.00/hour

Degreed/Non-Certified: $18.50/hour

Certified: $21.00/hour

 

This position will be funded by a combination of State Compensatory Education funds and Title 1, Part A funds. This hydrid funding is allowable because this tutoring position supports the shared purpose and intent of these two funds to increase student achievement in the core academic subject for students who are at-risk due to identified academic needs in these subject areas. Positions are extended annually based upon availability of funding.

 

Primary Purpose:

Provide supplemental instructional support to students not meeting academic expectations in Reading, Math, Science, and/or Writing with inclusive support to the general education teacher and/or small group instruction.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, preferred

Valid Texas Teaching certificate, preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Proficient in English

Knowledge of best instructional practices and strategies

Knowledge of TEKS and student expectations

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Effective decision-making skills

Instructional Strategist

Knowledge of RTI process

 

Experience:

Some experience working with students, preferred

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

  1. Assist support teachers in the delivery of a strongly aligned district curriculum.
  2. Analyze student achievement data and use results for instructional interventions.
  3. Determine and instructional intervention strategies that reflect understanding of the diverse needs of students.
  4. Provide tutoring to students in individual and/or small group settings situations through acceleration and remediation.

 

Student Growth and Development

  1. Establish and maintain open communication.
  2. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  3. Establish and maintain strong relationships with students.

 

School Morale

  1. Support collegiality and team building among staff members.
  2. Maintain a professional relationship with students, colleagues, parents, interns, administrators and community members.

 

Other:

  1. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  2. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise.
