Primary Purpose:
Supervise daily work performed by the grounds and athletic staff.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Complete knowledge of use and operation of all ground’s equipment
Knowledge of playground maintenance
Knowledge of construction equipment and operations
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and schematics
Ability to communicate and follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to operate lifts, and hand and electric tools
Ability to operate motor vehicle
Experience:
Four years’ experience in grounds/landscape
Two years’ experience in playground maintenance preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinate personnel and equipment operators in the care and maintenance of grounds and facilities including; lawns, fields, turf, trees, and shrubbery, etc.
- Mow, trim, and edge grass following a regular rotation to ensure neatness and appearance.
- Maintain the district trees and shrubbery by pruning, trimming, and removal of debris to assure the health of the plant and the appearance of the plant as well as the condition of the buildings, structures, or the foundations on which they abut.
- Perform routine minor repairs as needed on equipment.
- Help to maintain the components other than vegetation that are relative to grounds and maintenance; fencing, running tracks, turf, irrigations systems, electrical, plumbing, etc.
- Facilitate the maintenance and repairs of playground equipment.
- Maintain irrigation systems on athletic fields and ensure optimum efficientcy.
- Set irrigation schedules and monitor drought restrictions on all district athletic fields
- Responsible for keeping truck stock to complete grounds maintenance in a timely manner.
- Respond to emergencies as needed.
- Report unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.
- Update work orders daily through CMMS, and close upon work completion.
Safety
- Ensure all school employees who perform pest control have the necessary training and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise the daily activities of utility and athletic staff under the direction of coordinator and director.

Tools/Equipment: Tractors, light construction equipment, mowers, weed trimmer, blowers, and edger. telephone, district radio, copier.
Posture: Prolonged standing.
Motion: Strenuous walking, climbing, bending/stooping, squatting/kneeling, reaching
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.).
Environment: Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials; work with dangerous mechanical equipment; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions; frequent district-wide travel.
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.
